Much-awaited Monorail is starting in Mumbai from tomorrow on Sunday. Mumbai is the first city of India which is starting this type of public transportation system. Its inauguration would be on Saturday by the hands of Maharashtra's CM Ashok Chauvhan and will be opened for public on Sunday. In addition, Monorail project cost and its fare in Mumbai is less than the Japan's Monorail service. In future, Government is planning to run Monorail in other metro cities of India.
Although, it is the first phase of Mumbai's Monorail Project which is now completed. The route which is inaugurated today is from Chembur to Wadala and is 8.93 KM long. The fare is very less in comparison of other countries Monorail which should be 5-11 rupees. The other mode of fare system is "Smart Card" not monthly passes like Mumbai's local train.The Monorail covers seven station on this route - Chembur,VN Purav-RC Marg, Fertiliser Township, Bharat Petroleum, Mysore Colony, Bhakti Park and Wadala. It covers this distance in 15-20 minutes, earlier the same distance travelled in 40 minutes.
In the first phase of its operation, Monorail start at 7 Am in the morning and runs at 15 minute interval until 3 PM then the frequency will be increased according to the passengers number. The maximum speed of Monorail is 80 km/hr and average speed is 40 km/hr.
The Mumbai's Monorail is also attractive. It will be running on mono tracks in three colours - Pink, Green and Blue. It is made up of four coaches and have carrying capacity of 560 passengers.

Now, we are also joined the Monorail Club with America, Germany, China, Japan, Australia and Malaysia.
